Transforming Waste Into Works of Art | 1–20 July 202
Gowings Port Central is proud to host the EcoART Challenge—a sustainability-focused art competition that celebrates creativity, community, and ocean conservation.
This exciting initiative invites primary school students from across the Hastings Region to create striking, large-scale artworks using only recycled and repurposed materials. Each piece is inspired by the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life—echoing Gowings’ commitment to environmental action through the Gowings Whale Trust.
From Tuesday 1st July to Sunday 20th July, the centre will come alive with a colourful and thought-provoking exhibition of student-made masterpieces. Shoppers are invited to explore the artworks and vote for their favourite in the People’s Choice Award.

How to Vote
Visit Port Central between 1–20 July and:
- Explore the student artworks on display
- Fill out a ballot paper with your vote
- Place it in the voting barrel located at the EcoART installation in the centre
